The scenery is beautiful with rolling hills and farms. Lots of cows. As we get closer to Chaplin, you can see the salt beds. The 18-mile long Lake Chaplin is the source of one of the richest and purest sodium sulfate deposits in the world. It looks like snow.
About 1/2 hour past swift current the sky is getting hazy. We got a few drops of rain and then the skies cleared up. In Medicine Hat at 2:30. Gas was $147.00. Stopped on a service road to make lunch ... balogna, tomato and cheese. Tim Hortons was there so got a steeped tea for the drive to Calgary. It is 28 degrees and we have a west wind 37 gusting to 48. You can see the $$$$ coming out of the tail pipe!!
It’s 5:55 and we are getting close to Calgary. The sun is out but it is cloudy and hazy so can’t see the mountains clearly. It is 22 and the wind has died down. Drove through Chestermere ... a very pretty place with a lake with sailboats.
Drove through Calgary ... traffic wasn’t too bad. Arrived at the Calgary West Campground at 7:00 pm. It is on the side of a hill beside the Olympic Park. $53.60 per night. It is 19 degrees. Went for a walk and met the resident cat, Oscar. Salmon, rice and wine for supper. We get TV reception here!
Good night.
