It’s 12 degrees at 9:30 but a little chilly because of the wind and being on the water. That’s okay because it makes it easier to leave. Just talked with our neighbor and he drove through Waterton
Lakes National Park at this time of year and it snowed, so we are going to play it safe and head back to Highway 1 instead of going through the US. I took a few pictures of the ducks and water fountain before we left the park.
The climb up the mountain leaving Osoyoos was the biggest climb we have ever done. There were lots of switchbacks but the highway was very good. Took an opportunity to take a few photos from the RV and then stopped at a viewing point. Lots of people live up in the mountains. We finally reached a plateau and drove through farmland with lorts of cows, horses and saw signs for wineries. Mount Baldy Ski Resort is up here. Lots of trees and patches of green grass ... very pretty. It is 11:00 and 10 degrees. We continue to climb in areas.
It was quite the descent into Rock Creek ... our poor ears. Very pretty little town in the valley. We drove by this cute little community called Kettle River. Greenwood is an interesting place. The downtown area looks like an old western town. They even have a Sears dealer. Just passed a farm of sheep and llamas. Drove through Grand Forks BC. It is a City and has all the major conveniences, even Save on Foods. No Tim Hortons. Drove through Christina Lake. Gas here is 1.46 ... won’t be stopping here! The lake is beautiful with homes all along the water.
Staying at the Kootenay River RV Park. A nice park. Used to be a drive-in theatre years ago. May have to stay another night as we have to get a bearing fixed on the car dolly. Will find out tomorrow.
Castlegar is a nice place if we have to stay.
